Support For Mental Health

Journey of Hope

We strive to equip young adults to identify, understand and normalise their emotions; empower them to cope with adversity and respond positively to challenges; and help them develop positive strategies along with the tools and language skills they need to express their emotions safely all while building confidence and self-esteem.

Mental Health Awareness

Mental health affects most aspects of our life including our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It’s more common to be diagnosed with a mental health illness than you might think because chances are that more than 50% will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime.

Even though we know that it’s common, there are still a lot of stigmas that surrounds mental illness. Unfortunately, more than half of people with a mental illness do not receive help for their disorders. And often, people avoid or delay seeking treatment due to concerns about being treated differently or fears of losing their jobs and livelihood. But there are organisations and campaigns that are encouraging conversations around mental wellbeing.

In light of raising awareness, below we have have listed some powerful mental health quotes that we hope you find comforting and encouraging on days that may be more difficult than others. While these quotes may help lessen some of what you’re feeling, we do advise that you speak with a licensed therapist who can help you cope by engaging long-term procedures and mechanisms.

"You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you."

— Dan Millman

"I think it’s really important to take the stigma away from mental health… My brain and my heart are really important to me. I don’t know why I wouldn’t seek help to have those things be as healthy as my teeth."

—Kerry Washington, from HuffPost

"Mental health…is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going."

— Noam Shpancer, PhD

"You are not your illness. You have an individual story to tell. You have a name, a history, a personality. Staying yourself is part of the battle."

— Julian Seifter

"Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they're never weakness."

— Brené Brown
