Chapmans Peak Drive

Chapmans Peak Drive.

When I think about landscape photography, I’m inspired by light, lay of the land, and water; often for a fleeting moment as captured in this photography. What makes this scene unique is how light, sky, clouds, rocks, and ocean combine to render an inspiring early morning landscape pictorial. Southwest of Hout Bay, South Africa. (2009)

Hout Bay

Zero Dark 30, Mountain Hike.

I arose at 0300, made the 20 minute drive from Sea Point to Hout Bay with high hopes for a photographic challenge. I accessed a trail I’ve often used, hiked up the mountain that overlooked Hout Bay harbour, setup my equipment, and waited for over one hour. This scene arrived. Location: above Hout Bay harbour, Hout Bay, South Africa. (2009)

Beach Jogger

Mid-day Jogger
at Table Bay.

A scene of high-interest presents itself in a quick moment that requires having a camera on hand to effect image capture. I was out strolling following the beach-line from Big Bay in Baalawberg where I lived down to Milnerton and the seaside suburb of Table Bay, just north of Cape Town. A young man jogging alone along the beach caught my attention. (2011)

Penang Harbor

South Africa Road Trip.

South Africa is considered one of the best road trip destinations in the world. From the sunny small towns of the Western Cape and dusty outback of the Northern Cape, to the mystical boondocks of Mpumalanga, roads are the lifeline of the country. They connect glittering cities with small towns that sizzle in the desert heat, with fragrant pine forests, and rocky mountains. (07 Oct 2014)

Royal Palace, Phnom Penh

Royal Palace, Phnom Penh.

Cambodia. Royal Palace frescoes, based on the epic Sanskrit Ramayana from India, are the Cambodia Khmer version of the Ramayana (Reamker), considered a vital component of Cambodian culture. The frescoes bear irreparable damage despite the restoration efforts of a Polish artist team (1985 & 1993) that stopped restoration because of a lack of financing. (07 Sep 2010)

Tanjung Bungah Area

The Tanjung Bungah area, a suburb of George Town, Penang Island, Malaysia, was formerly a quiet fishing village populated by Malay and Chinese fishermen. Urbanisation of the area began in the 1980s with the construction of numerous residential high-rises along the crystal clear waters of its shoreline, to include two local swimming clubs.(09 Dec 2020).

Ciao! I’m

Terry Randolph

When thinking about taking photographs, choosing the best perspective when setting up a scene is a key element to capture an engaging image.

It’s a process that involves intuitiveness, perception, and inner vision. As a photographer, I face the challenge of how to transcribe my perception via technical means to bring reality to what my instincts direct and my mind envisions. This makes for photographic expression.

HIGHLIGHTS

Daily, I face a variety of choices and they always come with consequences. Should I avoid taking risks to avoid the discomforts that often comes with taking risks? Well, I take risks because it’s an operative word for ‘service’. Life is fleeting and we are here to learn, apply wisdom, and serve in ways that contribute to humanity’s progress.

Reminiscence

A collection in literary form of incidents that capture an actual moment in time, and of remembrances that convey a message of life as being liveable.

Nature

Nature photography covers shooting flora and fauna. This means plants, flowers, and animals, photographed in their immediate environments.

Exploration

Exploring the unfamiliar through my eyes to share the insights and stories that I believe are important for global, social, and cultural progress.

AfroFuture Ghana

AfroFuture was an event that opened up a wide field of possibilities. I captured candid shots, not prearranged, of people, objects, and occurrences as they happened. I strive to document an event where a single photograph presents the viewer with in-depth understanding what occurred.

Abstracts

Abstract photos must clearly focus on structural design with an appeal to order, placement, balance, shapes, patterns, and textures. Above all, it must convey spirituality as the primary intent.

Portraiture

Photography is the simultaneous recognition with a fraction of a second of the significance of an event. The type of portrait taken gives clues to that person’s personality and sense of being.

Captures

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” — Aaron Siskind

Out & About

I’m adaptable and enjoy being ‘out and about’; available to share ideas about opportunities to photographically capture an opportune moment in time that portrays the Mystic Nightingale intonate its odes.

Museum

We see photography as an art-form worthy of wall space. The very special and crucial thing that affects photography is its relationship with reality. It’s designed to show viewers a distinctive narrative, a pathway through a three dimensional photo collage to elicit wonderment and enhance perception. To tell in images what words could not express, in other words, make learning visual.

We aspire to engage and educate through the exhibition, to preserve a collection of photography that dates from the mid-1960 to current photographic endeavours. This means to address contemporary, historical, cultural and conceptual themes that are global in nature, being true to the photographer’s adventurous spirit.

Be willing to tap into the creative energies generated by the relation of ‘rose and nightingale’ that embodies the nature of love and of life in general, and also envisions the embryonic stirrings of a global embrace.
